Welcome to the 2025 SLA Conference Panel Matchmaker Forum! We have created this platform to support potential session organizers in locating panelists and discussants beyond their current networks, and vice versa. Below are some housekeeping items to keep in mind when using this Forum.
Check For Matches Before Posting
Interested in joining a panel on a particular theme? Looking for a panelist or discussant for your partially-completed panel? Check to see if someone else has already created a relevant post before creating a post of your own. For example, if you're interested in presenting your work on language and the environment, look for already-formed environmental panels whose organizers are advertising open slots before posting a "Seeking Language & Environment Panel" thread.
Use Descriptive Post Titles!
To make sure the Forum is easy for users to navigate, make sure to include the following in the title of your Thread:
For example: "Seeking 2 panelists for language, Indigeneity & environment panel"
Include Non-sensitive Contact Information
Be sure to indicate how potential panelists, discussants, and/or panel organizers can get in touch with you. We encourage you to use a non-sensitive method of contact—like an institutional email address—rather than a personal email or phone number that is linked to private social media accounts.
Suggested Timeline
We encourage you to complete your session descriptions for circulation by early November 2024 to allow adequate time to identify panelists and discussants.
Treat Others with Respect
Any form of discrimination or harassment based on an individual's age, ancestry, civil union, domestic partner, or marital status, color, disability, gender identity or expression, genetic information, military service, national origin, nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law will not be tolerated. Users found to be in violation of this expectation will be removed from this Forum. While it isn't possible to define discrimination or harassment without ambiguity, such misconduct does include jokes, slurs, and other uninvited graphic, physical, or verbal conduct by one individual toward others.
